Mercedes Sprinter Radio Code Decoder

I recently had some success in finding the original 5 digit radio code for an early Mercedes Sound 10 radio unit fitted to a friends 2004 Mercedes Sprinter using this decode list.

Mercedes Sound 10

Mercedes Sound 10

You might want to give it a try.. No promises, but its worth a go!  Just enter the last 8 digits of your Sprinters VIN into the grey window of  the downloadable decoder spread sheet  and then press enter – if the radio code is known against the VIN number it will be displayed in the yellow window.  If  ‘N/A’  is displayed then its not your lucky day, sorry!   This will only work if you still have the original radio fitted from when your vehicle left the factory.  Remember this is for the early series of sprinters with the radio as the picture above.

If the above does not work out for you I still may be able to assist with the code for your old model radio cassette unit. Remove the radio from the dash and take down the Becker model and serial number from the paper label on the side of the set. List these details in the comments box beneath this post with your request and I will see what I can do.

PLEASE NOTE – while I will always try and help out Mercedes owners in any way I can ‘for free’ . In providing this service, it does take up some of my valuable time and the website needs to be hosted and funded in some way.  So if you have been helped with a Radio Code or found other information that it has personally saved you some time and money, you can click on the link to purchase the downloadable 2015 Mercedes Gen-In Review Ebook for £3.50 (Less than £5.00 USD) or by simply donating a small amount via PayPal with the button below. Making a donation or buying a hard copy of the website and its contained information will show your appreciation and thanks, helping to support the site so that you and others may continue to benefit from its existence. 🙂

Many thanks for your support,

(Mercedes Gen-In)

Instructions for entering the code:

After switching on the unit the display will show ‘SOUND 10’ for a brief time then clear.
Press [ ON ] and ‘SOUND 10’ will display again followed by ‘CODE * * * * ‘ The ‘C’ will be flashing.
Press [ + or – ] to increment/decrement the first digit of the code, then press [ M ] to select the second digit.
Repeat the procedure until all digits have been entered.
Upon entering the last digit press and hold the [ M ] key to accept the code.
The set will now turn on.

If ‘WAIT’ is displayed on your radio: This means that the incorrect code has been tried too many times. If you leave the radio powered on for over two hours it should reset and clear, allowing you to enter the new and correct code. It is possible for repeated could lock you out of the radio altogether, if this is the case WAIT will not disappear after two hours.  The radio will then have to electrically unlocked at an auto electrical radio specialist.

      1. Hi Adam, you will need radio removal keys that go into the small slots either side at the front. However the alternative is just to remove the upper dash cover in one piece and lift it up to read the label. This is not a huge job though any garage worth their salt should have removal keys at the ready for the price of a beer!
        All the best
        Steve

      2. Steve, you’re an absolute gent.
I bought a set of keys on Amazon for a quid and I now have the serial number.
        It’s model BE4103 and serial number Y8068072.
Cheers for all your help; it’s you that deserves the beer mate!

      4. Hi Phillip,
The radio you have is manufactured by Alpine and not Becker. If it were Becker, I could most probably help you but as it is an Alpine unit my code list is no use.
        Sorry.
        Best Regards
        Steve

  1. Hey.
I need the code for my Mercedes-Benz audio 10 BE 3100. cassette player radio
    serial no. 12859933
    Could you help?

    Thanks in advance 🙂

  2. Please help on having the code for my mercedes benz radio. The model is BE4103 (A 003 820 91 86), the type is sound 10. The serial number is 28202500. Thx

      1. thx steve. code was accepted, but radio not working. is there anything after setting the code

      2. Hi there Vamara,
There is nothing more to do, the radio/cassette should all work if you followed the entry instructions on the post page (followed by the M key). It may be the speakers are faulty (not uncommon) or there is a plug disconnected at the rear of the radio. There should be two banks of terminals connected, the lower one for power and the other to the speakers. If there is still no sound with known good speakers, then sadly it appears the radio itself may be faulty.
        Best Regards
        Steve

    1. Hi there Lina,
The code for your Audio 30 radio is not listed on the Sprinter accessory list I have, however I had a look at the serial number and it should be one of the following – you will just have to try them to find the one that works!
      71815
      51235
      31411
My feeling is that it will be the first one.

I am afraid that VIN is not listed on my sheet, if you can get me the Becker model and serial number from the side of the radio chassis (on a sticker) I can provide you with the code.
      All the best

  9. Hi have old 2001 sprinter with radio above gives
    serial number as 18094622
    Be – 4103
    MODEL 4103
    LONG SERIAL NUMBER AS *4103DA018094622

    1. Hi Benjamin,
If you can let me have the Becker serial and model number from the sticker from the side of the radio chassis I can probably help.
      All the best
      Steve

      1. Hei .. i’ve got the serial from the side of the cassette . : SOUND 10 BE 6045

        SERIAL NO: 48119277

but there is a thing after i start the radio it appears sound 10 followed by “WAIT” and it remains like that for long time .. i can’t even pass the code :-?? what do i have 2 do ?

        THANK YOU !

      2. Hi Benjamin,
The ‘Wait’ display means that the incorrect code has been tried too many times. If you leave the radio powered on for over two hours it should reset and clear allowing you to enter the new and correct code of 11514.
        All the best
        Steve

    1. Hi Sultan,
Your code should be: 61226 However there are variants of that radio that may need one of the following alternative codes if the first one listed does not work. They are: 41222, 81226 or 1226 if a four digit code is required.
      All the best
      Steve

      1. Hi Boss Steve,
I can’t thank you enough for providing the much needed code for me. My heart is full of joy and I am really very grateful. May the good Lord bless you richly.

    Cheers Pete

    1. Hi Pete,
If the VIN is not listed you will have to let me have the Becker model and serial number from the paper label on the side of the radio chassis, once I have these I stand a good chance of being able to help you out.
      All the best
      Steve

  14. hi do u have a code for a sprinter mercedes van vin number is WDB9036622R837138
its a sound 30 model number BE6052 serial number 58016068 and it a becker Q03 thanks

    1. Hi Patrick,
      Try the following code: 64331
If by chance it does not work try: 84111 or 44111 though I have a feeling it will be the first one above.
      All the best
      Steve

    1. Hi Chris,
In that case the only other possible combinations can be, 41113 or 45517. If these do not work there is possibly an issue with the radio, let me know how you go on.
      Regards
      Steve

      1. hi it was the right code it working now my dad was press wrong button to confirm it i just went over to check and it sorted now thanks for the code

  15. Hi Steve,
Just purchased some radio removal keys off E-Bay as someone previously mentioned (very helpful by the way), and have removed the radio which says Model BE4103 and Serial No: 18116160 could you possibly assist with code?

We have tried 3 codes and now have the “WAIT” displayed and hope we are not locked out permanently. Will find out in 2 hours when I go back and check. Hope you can help. Bri.

    1. Hi Bri,
I have the code 11644 listed for that BE4103 Sprinter radio. Just give it a while with the power on and it should reset so you can try again.
      All the best
      Steve

  16. Hi Steve,
Could you please help me unlock my Mercedes radio?
    It is a BE6045
    Serial: 38030716
    A 004 820 16 86

    Many thanks,

    1. Hi Theodore,
The older Sprinter radio you have will be unlocked with code 22325 don’t forget to press ‘M’ to confirm when you have entered all the digits.
      All the best
      Steve

  17. Hi,
Can you please help with radio code for our Spinter it is a sound 30 Model number BE4603 Serial number18007988, much appreciated.

    Cheerz Steve

    1. Hi Clint,
You would have to pull the radio and get the Becker model and serial from the paper sticker on the side. If its a Nav unit then I probably can’t help sorry.(standard radio we should be OK)
      All the best
      Steve

  18. Hi Steve please code for ours Sprinter 🙁
    BECKER SOUND 30
    Model No : BE6052
    Serial No : 48006483
    Thank you so much 🙂

      1. Hi Martina,
That is strange as that code 31142 is listed for that serial number. However you can try the following as they are for slightly different versions and may work. 11144, 51148 or if a four digit code 1148. If none of these codes work and you have given me the correct serial number, I can only suspect that the radio is faulty.
        All the best
        Steve

  19. hi, would you have the code for my 2003 sprinter radio? It’s a becker ,serial number 38061609

  20. Hi Steve.
Greetings from Perú, mi bercedes benz is a SPRINTER 313 cdi 2009, i dont have de radio code, and i don´t now the radio serial number, can You help me please???

    1. Hi Miguel,
What is the issue? As I understand it there is no actual ‘code’ used on the modern Mercedes Sound 15 and 20. Do you have a ‘PROD’ display error or another fault? Tell me more…
      All the best
      Steve

  21. Hi Steve,

I wonder if you can help me?

I am looking for a Radio Code for a Sound 4000 Unit that is fitted to a 312 Sprinter (4×4) that I am refurbishing. Its a Grundig Unit and the Serial Number is DB1160X1651098.
The last 8 digits from the VIN are 2P939391. Best regards, Paul.

    1. Hi paul,
Sadly there is nothing I can do with Grundig I am afraid, I only have lists for Becker. There is however plenty of online decoder sites that will do the job for you for around 10U$ or less. Sorry about that.
      All the best
      Steve

  22. Hi steve!I’m looking for code for my sound 30 radio cd.the model is be 4613 and the serial number is Y8002551!Thank you very much!!

  23. Hi, I have a 98 and a 99 e.320 I replaced the battery in the 98 and the code was taken no problem and all of a sudden its displaying “phone.” I tried everything that i could and no luck..my 99 isn’t running but the radio was fine and i swapped them only to have that radio say “muted” I’m about to see about a different brand that will fit unless someone can tell me whats up…thanks for your time

    1. Hi Kenny,

I suspect that there is maybe a problem with either an existing pre-wire kit/controller module for a mobile phone. Either that or the wiring loom/mute-phone line is grounded or trapped somewhere. If you unplug the uppermost plug of the stack of connectors on the back, this should disconnect all the wiring to any external kit including anything related to ‘Phone – Mute’. Better still, if you can identify and remove only the green section (middle portion) of the upper connector block this will then retain the parts of the connector either side and any external CD changer control you may have will be maintained. See here for wiring connections -http://www.mercedes.gen.in/Downloads/Mercedes%20Sound%20ISO%20Connector.pdf while they may not be identcial to what you have installed, it should be pretty close to get the principal idea.

Just a thought – have you disconnected the battery supply lead and left it off for a short while (10 mins or so) then reconnected? May be worth a go, as the older MB electronics were always susceptible to battery reconnection and also jump starting upsets. Sometimes starting from scratch and resultantly resetting everything, often straightens things out.

      Hope this helps,
      Regards
      Steve

  24. Hi Steve, My wife has a 2002 Merc Slk with an Alpine 10 Radio/CD player.
Serial code AL291020398306. Can’t find the code anywhere can you help or suggest who can please

    1. Hi There Barry,

I can’t help with anything other than Becker units I am afraid as I don’t have the lists, however these folks at DND services seem very reputable and should be able to decode your set for you. Obviously there is a cost implication in using these services. (I Think they are upgrading their website at the moment but should be back online in a day or so.)

The MF2910 seems to present most with a problem to decode. If you post your request and serial number on the more specific boards (google MF2910 decode) then you may get some assistance. It is usual for more dedicated auto radio repair shops to do a code dump, which means reading the chip inside the radio by electrical means and by decoding this ‘dump’ they can extract the code. A more complex arrangement and you would definitely have to either send off your radio or leave it with them for decoding.

Sorry that I could not be of more help.
      All the best
      Steve

    1. Hi there Jane,
The Sound 10 6021 has no ‘code’ to input as such, it is electronically paired through the vehicle communication bus with the vehicle ECU. I assume you will probably have the PROD display. This means that it is in use in a vehicle it was not code-paired for. A specialist auto radio repair shop may be able to decode it electronically, but would I would estimate it be in the region of minimum £35-£45 if you can find a workshop that can do it. Sorry I cannot be more help.
      Regards
      Steve

      1. thanks allot for you quick replay , but i can’t enter number five to the radio. i tried all method i found in the manual, didn’t work

      2. Hi Mogtaba,
That is strange regarding the 5th Digit. Is the actual digit there on the display (probably shown as a ‘0’) or is it by chance only a four number code? If it is a four digit code I will investigate further if you can confirm please.
        Regards
        Steve

      3. Hi Steve
Actually the code combined from five digits but I can’t enter the second digit which is 5 . The arrows not responding for increasing or decreasing.

      4. Hi Mogtaba,
That is strange, pressing the left arrow key on the 4 way selector should advance you to the next digit of the code. Pressing up and down to increment the number then left again enters the digit and moves to the next code digit. Maybe you radio has a fault.

    vin : WDB2100376A119847

i dont know which one radio serial number
(i get from the radio itself)
    PCF8576T
    438MA
    YSM96102
    TAIWAN

    1. Hi Durratul,
The numbers you have given me for the model and serial I cannot recognise. The numbers I would need are the Becker model number on the paper label on the side of the radio chassis. I will also need the Becker radio serial number also printed on this label. What model of Mercedes radio is it?. Maybe with some more information I may be able to help, though I am suspecting the radio is too old for my records.
      Best Regards
      Steve

      1. thanks for reply

        i got the model actually
        becker monza rds panel
        BE2130
        SAB80C535N
        85C82smd

      2. Hi Durratul,
I need the correct serial number from the paper sticker on the side/top of the outside of radio metal case, it should read something like “BE2130 R 100 44 09” I have checked and I should be able to get you the four digit code if you can provide me with the radio chassis correct serial number (not the numbers from the chips on the circuit board inside 🙂 ) It should start with ‘R’ and has seven number digits after it.

I have also found the code entry procedure below –

The security code entry procedure is as follows:

Turn radio on – LCD display shows “CODE” with a letter ” C ” flashing. Input your code, for example to Enter the code 1234 – Press preset 1 then 2 then 3 then 4. When the correct code number is shown on the display press the Tuning Up button ” ^ ” to enter. Radio should come alive.

        All the best
        Steve

      3. Hi steve
It takes me 6months to pull out the radio..haha

I got the number above the radio

        T 9100657.. I hope it works

      4. Hi Durratul,
There is three possibilities tested my end, I hope one of them does the trick: 24321, 8329 (If four digit) and 62323
Hope it works out for you,
        All the best
        Steve
