Mercedes Sprinter Radio Code Decoder

I recently had some success in finding the original 5 digit radio code for an early Mercedes Sound 10 radio unit fitted to a friends 2004 Mercedes Sprinter using this decode list.

Mercedes Sound 10

Mercedes Sound 10

You might want to give it a try.. No promises, but its worth a go!  Just enter the last 8 digits of your Sprinters VIN into the grey window of  the downloadable decoder spread sheet  and then press enter – if the radio code is known against the VIN number it will be displayed in the yellow window.  If  ‘N/A’  is displayed then its not your lucky day, sorry!   This will only work if you still have the original radio fitted from when your vehicle left the factory.  Remember this is for the early series of sprinters with the radio as the picture above.

If the above does not work out for you I still may be able to assist with the code for your old model radio cassette unit. Remove the radio from the dash and take down the Becker model and serial number from the paper label on the side of the set. List these details in the comments box beneath this post with your request and I will see what I can do.

PLEASE NOTE – while I will always try and help out Mercedes owners in any way I can ‘for free’ . In providing this service, it does take up some of my valuable time and the website needs to be hosted and funded in some way.  So if you have been helped with a Radio Code or found other information that it has personally saved you some time and money, you can click on the link to purchase the downloadable 2015 Mercedes Gen-In Review Ebook for £3.50 (Less than £5.00 USD) or by simply donating a small amount via PayPal with the button below. Making a donation or buying a hard copy of the website and its contained information will show your appreciation and thanks, helping to support the site so that you and others may continue to benefit from its existence. 🙂

Many thanks for your support,

(Mercedes Gen-In)

Instructions for entering the code:

After switching on the unit the display will show ‘SOUND 10’ for a brief time then clear.
Press [ ON ] and ‘SOUND 10’ will display again followed by ‘CODE * * * * ‘ The ‘C’ will be flashing.
Press [ + or – ] to increment/decrement the first digit of the code, then press [ M ] to select the second digit.
Repeat the procedure until all digits have been entered.
Upon entering the last digit press and hold the [ M ] key to accept the code.
The set will now turn on.

If ‘WAIT’ is displayed on your radio: This means that the incorrect code has been tried too many times. If you leave the radio powered on for over two hours it should reset and clear, allowing you to enter the new and correct code. It is possible for repeated could lock you out of the radio altogether, if this is the case WAIT will not disappear after two hours.  The radio will then have to electrically unlocked at an auto electrical radio specialist.

Can you recheck the Becker serial number on the radio sticker as that code relates perfectly to the serial given. Did you press the SC key to accept once entered? Try the other alternative for later model. Code – 61145

    1. Hi Cem,
Wait is when you have tried too many times to enter the incorrect code. You will have to leave radio turned on for a few hours to get to the code entry screen again. If you take out the radio and give me the Becker model and serial number from the paper label on the side, I may be able to help with the correct code.

  16. hi steve
please help me as soon as you can. i am looking for my mercedes radio Code audio10 for : serial number 1708200386 model No 2910 Y0459414 and my vin number is WDB2100621B169645 Thank you

    1. Hi Alireaz,
That Radio can either be manufactured by Alpine or Becker. Sadly the only way to decode the 2910 is to read the memory chip on the PCB. This will need to be done by an Audio Electronics/Radio Decoder service as that model is not listed on any of the decoder charts.

      Best regards
      Steve

  17. Hy Steve,
Could you please help me unlock my Mercedes Sprinter Radio?

    1. Hi There Alican,
That VIN is not listed, but if you can pull the radio and get me the Becker Model and Serial number from the paper label on the side of the radio chassis, I may still be able to help.
      All the best
      Steve

  19. Hi Steve, I cant get my radio to turn on on my 2002 sprinter. I have the Becker card the serial number is BE 4143 2 8004006 Then it says CODE NUMBER 44221 Is that the number I punch in ? I have tried that and the wait light comes on .Please help . Thanks , Tom

    1. Hi Tom,

I have checked the serial number you gave the code number and they are correct however if the radio unit has been changed at some point and the serial number on the set is NOT the serial number on the code-card then there is the difficulty. The wait instruction is because the code has been input incorrectly a number of times. You will need to leave the radio on for a couple of hours to allow the wait prompt/lock to remove from the screen and display once more – CODE – at this point it will allow you to try again with the correct code.

If you have not done it already, you need to remove the radio and check the Becker serial number. Its my guess it isn’t the same as is on the card. If you can let me have the serial from the paper label on the radio chassis I can most probably help out.

      All the best
      Steve

  20. Hi Steve, I have a BECKER radio with serial no. BE3100Y2811866 but have misplaced the codes.
If you can help me with the codes will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

      1. Hi Steve, the code works. You are really of great help and to reciprocate your kindness, donation is on the way. Will also purchase your Merc Gen-in 2015.
        Thanks again.

  21. Steve;
another disabled radio after dead battery. 06 dodge sprinter, sound 10

Entered vin # 65958591 and got code 51331. still does not accept it. took out radio and no #s on it

    now what??

    David

    1. Hi Dave,
Well if the vin lookup does not provide the correct code, its most probably had a replacement radio. Its bad news that the Becker label with model and serial number is missing as this was your lifeline to a simple decode. The only way to decode the set without either a valid VIN or serial number lookup is to take the set to a car audio expert. They will read the internal EPROM security chip with some electronic hardware and be able to decode the information it stores to give you the unlock code. Often it is cheaper to buy a used Audio 10, either with a code or at least a valid serial number label, than go down the electronic read route. You might be lucky and get it done economically if you can find a radio shop with the technology to do the job – other than that try good old EBay!

Just before we all sink into our hands, I have found a much older dealer list and that VIN decodes to 24215 – its worth a try!

      All the best
      Steve

      All the best
      Steve

      1. Steve;
After a year and a half with no radio, this code 24215 worked and there is good sound now. Thanks so much!!!! I even made a radio removal tool out of an old pair of kid scissors. I have been dealing with the radio, as I’m not having much luck solving the intermittent “turbo low boost” limp home mode. This is hope for a better day tomorrow.

thanks for inspiration and the help!

        David

  22. Hi Steve,

Can I have my radio code? it is a MB A140 (WDB1680311J110655) I have disconnected the battery without knowing that the code card is lost.

    Cheers,

    Moises

    1. Hi Moises,
You will have to remove the radio from the dashboard and let me know the manufacturer, model and serial number from the paper label on the side of the radio chassis. If it is an older radio that was used in early vehicles I may be able to help only if if it is manufactured by Becker. Some radios were made by Alpine and I do not have any decoding information for those.
      Regards
      Steve

  23. Hi Steve;
My battery is dead and I changed it but now radio is locked
    My VIN is: WDB2020181A366176
If you can help me I will be pleased.
    Thank You.

    1. Hi again Aquiline,
In that case the only other code it can possibly be for that serial number is this: 41331
If none of the two codes I have given work, then either the radio is faulty or there is a chance error in the serial number you have given.
      Regards
      Steve

  24. Hi Steve,
Finally I have managed to remove the radio, the data are:
    Tyoe: Audio 10
    Model: BE3200
    Serial No: W1073830

    Regards
    Moises

      1. Yesss!!
        one of them worked!
Thank you very much, you are doing a great contribution.
        Regards
